EDU 246 Course Objectives:
  1. Evaluate the place of technology in today's world and the education profession.
  2. Use and apply technology in learning and instruction by demonstrate competence in multiple elements of computer managed instruction (CMI) [e.g. word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentations].
  3. Evaluate and devise applications for a variety of educational software programs.
  4. Evaluate and discover and variety of educational  uses for Internet.
  5. Examine selected web sites that are sources of quality technology-enhanced lesson plans
  6. Demonstrate skills in utilizing the computer as a presentation tool
  7. Demonstrate knowledge of the ethical standards related to the use of computer technology.
  8. Identify the components of an integrated lesson using the NTeQ Model.
  9. Author a collection of web pages and using a web server.
  10. Reflect on field experiences at local schools.

Assessments & Activities for EDU 246
  1. A mixture of direct intruction, presentations, field experiences, hands-on and group activities.
  2. Create a variety of word-processed documents, databases, and spreadsheets.
  3. Create an electronic grade book and use it to graph and describe learner's progress.
  4. Use library databases to access relevant sources of educational data.
  5. Evaluate educational software programs and internet sites within the chosen area of expertise.
  6. Develop lessons incorporating the use of the internet appropraite to the grade level and/or area in which students plan to teach.
  7. Create educational presentations to demonstrate competency with a variety of programs.  Need stroage jump drive for presentations and other activities in the class.
  8. Use a Web-based authoring tool to create a personal educational website appropriate for grade level you plan to teach.
  9. Design school web pages that support communication between the school and community and link this to yor personal page.
  10. Utilize the features of an e-mail program, listservs, and newsgroups.
  11. Participate in a minimum of 8 hours of field experience and maintain a descriptive and reflective field journal Reflections.
  12. Class Attendance- EDU 246 meets twice weekly.  Students are expected to attend all class sessions.  Attendance is a graded part of your overall evaluation.  You earn points for showing up for each class session.
  13. Class participation- Hands-on activites during class sessions is part of your evaluation in this course
  14. Examinations- Oral and Written

Hello! My name is Brittany Young. I am 22 years old. I have lived in Stanley, Kentucky my whole life.  I am a 2004 graduate of Apollo High School.  After high school I attended Owensboro Community College from 2004-2006.  After attending OCC for 2 years I started attending Brescia University.  I now attend Brescia University, where I am majoring in Early Childhood Education.  I am designing this website for my Micro-Computing class.
